If you apply the proper car and maintenance you can enjoy an electronic cigarette for many hours. We should first point out that over time all e-cigarettes start to run into problems. Batteries fail; atomizers clog or no longer work; cartridges taste funny, no longer draw vapor, or leak juice. However, all of these issues can be avoided if you properly maintain your device.
Most ecigarettes have a Lithium-based battery, which are not susceptible to memory effect. However, if your battery is made from Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) then your battery can suffer from memory effect which means that you battery might not retain all of the adequate charge needed to keep your device running. This occurs due to cadmium crystals forming inside the battery cell. Failed batteries are a common complaint from e-cigarette users. To ensure this doesn’t happen to your battery, always discharge the battery naturally through normal use before charging. You should never charge a battery just because you feel it needs to get topped off. Use the electronic cigarette until the battery is no longer functioning, then place the battery on its charger and let it charge fully.
E-cigarette atomizers can be clogged over time because of the thickened oil from dried juice. E-Juice has oils inside that thicken when it starts to dry. The druid juice will eventually clog the wick located inside the atomizer and even the passageways that channel air through the device. To prevent this from occurring, frequently change or replace your cartridges and always store the electronic cigarette cartridge-side down. Storing the electronic cigarette with the cartridge down ensures the liquid does not settle into the atomizer. Another important consideration is to not overfill the cartridge. Only a few drops of juice are needed to fill a cartridge for normal vaping. If your atomizer was to ever become clogged then you can simply rinse it with hot water and then let it dry overnight. The atomizer must be fully dried before it will operate properly.
Probably the most common issue all electronic cigarette users face is the cartridge drying out, tasting funny or suffering from restricted air flow. Like the atomizer, the cartridge will eventually clog due to the juice drying out through normal use. Dry cartridges cause a lack of vapor and will also cause the vapor to taste funny. Cartridges are not expensive and a spare should always be kept around so that they can be replaced regularly.
Being attentive to a few simple procedures, such as these, will extend the life of your electronic cigarette. Keep in mind that as each component ages they will stop functioning properly. When you see that this starts to happen the best thing to do is to replace that component. What you can do is always keep a spare part around so that you will always have a working electronic cigarette.
