Removing facial hair at women is known as the oldest way of cosmetic process. In last couple of years, popularity for this procedure has very increased. Techniques which developed from everyday shaving, and to longer lasting painful way of waxing, and to permanent way with electrolysis with needles. The most important fact people usually consider when undergoing removal of hair is the time it takes for skin to stay smooth.
We all know that undesired hairs cannot be removed by plucking only. Hairs appear back again. So we must destroy structure that is responsible for hair to grow. Therefore for hair to be removed completely we must not only remove hair itself but also destroy hair follicle and surrounding cells. Depending on the area of the body and for how long hair is already growing, hair root is situated approximately 4mm below the skin.
Hairs grow in three cycles. One cycle can last from few months up to few years and is then done again. Active phase of hair growth is known as “anagen” phase, “talogen” stage it is this which describes period of little or no growth. To achieve effective laser procedure, transition of new growth is the best time for hair to be removed.
Because of lack of melanin, light hairs are harder to remove than dark hair. Light hairs generally demand more energy to be eliminated. Of course, success of treatment is in no way possible to predict.
It is very well known that melanin (particularly with dark skinned) is also present in the form of melanocytes in the basic layer of epidermis of skin and will in procedures like getting rid of facial hairs absorb energy just like melanin present in hair, that is why tanned skin is not good to be treated, naturally dark skin must be constantly cooled during the procedure.
