All of us look forward to a trouble-free trip when we travel abroad. Whether it is a business trip or a family holiday, we want to feel secure. But it is better to be prepared to face difficult situations when we travel abroad, such as medical emergencies, lost or misplaced baggage and trip cancellation expenses. Fortunately, international travel insurance helps you deal with all such situations during overseas travel.

International travel insurance is especially designed to help you deal with a medical or financial crisis while traveling abroad. It offers broad coverage for the entire trip for medical treatment, loss of passport or baggage. You can go for an affordable travel insurance plan at the time of booking your trip. But how to buy an insurance plan that is right for your budget and that can be bought at short notice?

The benefits of international travel insurance are many, such as worldwide medical and travel assistance, ease and convenience of purchase, instant issue of policy and cashless claims settlement. Today, you have the flexibility of choosing a travel insurance plan as per your need. There are different types of travel insurance international plans: single trip plans, multi-trip plans, student plans, and senior citizen plans.

A single trip plan is similar to a single entry visa, which entitles a passenger to benefit for a single trip. The premium depends on the traveling destination as well as the duration of the trip. This is because some countries are higher in risk than others and also, longer the duration of the trip, higher the risk of meeting with medical or financial emergencies.

Then there is the multi-trip plan, which provides benefits for one year for any number of places visited in the time limit. The premium amount again depends on the countries visited and the duration of each visit. It also depends on the age and health of the person traveling.

Student plans are for students who want to study abroad. Under this type of travel insurance international plan, medical and financial emergencies of students are covered for the entire tenure of their education abroad.

There are specially designed plans for senior citizens which cover all medical and non-medical expenses on their international travel. A great feature of Senior Citizen Plans is that they generally cover pre-existing medical conditions in life threatening situations.

There are international travel insurance plans which provide trip cancellation coverage as well. Under this plan, all non refundable trip costs can be reimbursed if unforeseen weather conditions, terrorism activities, etc cause a delay or cancellation of the trip. Make sure you are covered by a good travel insurance international plan and travel the world in peace.
